Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2009. It has been hatching talented young engineers who are the pillars of our nation. Students have been stepped in with very much potential to get adopted in various working environment. Many staff members are undergoing PhD programme and actively participate in National conferences. In order to be more competent to equip student’s ability, department lab facilities had been commissioned with emerging new Technical & Technological Equipments now and then Faculty Members attending many faculty development programmes held at various colleges and Conducting FDP’s for other college faculties.
Department Association named ‘MECHNOVATION2012’ has been conducting various levels of events like inter college competition, intra college competition, National level symposium. Department library accommodates various books including IEEE journals, ASME, magazines etc, they are very much helpful to facilitate student’s innovative thoughts.
Mechanical Engineering plays a vital role in manufacturing and technological advancement. It is arguably the broadest of the main Engineering disciplines and the department equips the students with analytical depth in a wide range of Engineering subjects, balanced with practical experience and essential transferable skills
The Department has made substantial investment in up-to-date equipment in its laboratories and has enviable computing facilities.
This degree program prepares students for Advanced, Technical Mechanical Design and Development Work. It includes the study of the Design, Analysis and simulation. The curriculum includes basic course work in new Technology and theories of various designs. Students focus on developing computer-based solutions involving hardware and software components and integration. Graduates are qualified to work in a range of positions, from entry-level computer scientists and system engineers to project managers leading advanced applications of mechanical engineering to real-world problems.
Mechanical engineers require a solid understanding of key concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, energy and manufacturing. They use these principles in the design and analysis of automobiles, aircraft, heating and cooling systems, buildings and bridges, industrial equipment & machinery, and many more.
The B.E., in Mechanical Engineering is a comprehensive degree program. The goal of the mechanical engineering curriculum is to create a flexible undergraduate educational experience in design, mathematics, modeling, computing, management, engineering science, humanities, social sciences and fine arts. Principal study topics include fluid mechanics, thermodynamics & heat transfer, solid mechanics, materials engineering, manufacturing, energy systems, dynamics & control Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) and others. This broad and flexible program allows students to customize their programs to meet their objectives and particular career goals. Traditional students can prepare for technological careers in industry, graduate school or management. The more interdisciplinary students can utilize this program as a launching pad for professional careers in business or public service.
Students will have the opportunity to work in diverse fields like Production, Industrial Engineering, Design, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. They also have the option to work in CAD/CAM fields, Computer Hardware and Software Development areas. A high percentage of students get admission to prestigious Universities abroad to pursue their MS Degree. Students who successfully graduate have tremendous scope in public sector and private sector organizations.

Career in Mechanical Engineering at our campus, is highly rewarding and attractive because of its unique atmosphere that is favourable for learning and exploring! Department of Mechanical Engineering at Arunai College of Engineering has a tradition of offering a richly integrated curriculum of technical education and research to its students, right from its inception in the year 2009. It is well equipped with state-of-the art laboratories and infrastructural facilities. Our students have ample opportunities to investigate and carry out experiments more than that is prescribed in their curriculum. Experimental and computational facilities are being continuously upgraded and Industry interaction has been constantly encouraged. Department has been active in offering consultancy, need based training and testing services to local industries and Institutions. Short term courses are regularly conducted by the Department to facilitate the continuing education of practicing engineers and faculty members of other institutions.
